Services

Most services are provided in-person in the comfort of Debbie’s office, with parents observing and participating directly in the sessions. Virtual services are provided when in-person sessions are not possible. In some circumstances, services may be provided in a child’s home or daycare setting.

1.

Assessment

It is never too early for an assessment! An initial assessment will help to determine your child’s strengths and current communication needs. The assessment will include:

  • An intake interview over the phone

  • Gathering of relevant background information

  • Review of documentation from a previous S-LP or other professionals

  • An in-person assessment which may include parent report, observation through play, formal tests

  • Discussion of findings

  • Recommendation for plan of intervention and goals

2.

Therapy

This is where the fun begins! Parents will participate in making a treatment plan.  Goals and the frequency of sessions will be discussed and based on the child's needs.  Recognizing that a treatment session is a very small window in a child's week, the S-LP or CDA will coach parents in how to practice and generalize new skills in daily life.  This practice can significantly accelerate a child's progress.

3.

Consultation & Collaboration

It is important to work with other professionals who are invested in a child’s success.    We are happy to consult and collaborate with other professionals, such as early childhood educators, teachers, community S-LPs, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and ABA therapists. This may take the form of a phone call, a virtual meeting, or an in-person team meeting.

4.

Report Writing

Parents can request to have a written formal report or a therapy summary for their own documentation or to share with other professionals.  These reports are available upon request and are subject to regular hourly fees.

5.

Bee Ready Readers

Bee Ready Readers will have your child buzzing with excitement about reading! This fun, interactive program will boost your child’s early literacy skills.
